SB Architecture Studio was asked to remodel and extend this detached family house to increase space, add functionality and enhance the home's connection with the attractive garden.

The proposed design includes a double-story side extension and a single-story rear garden extension.

The ground floor features open-plan kitchen, dining, and lounge spaces. The kitchen includes a large island with seating for socialising and cooking. A large picture-frame window and integrated seat take advantage of the garden views.

Large bi-fold doors open onto a generous terrace leading to the garden below.

Interior spaces feature neutral tones, timber linings, and exposed brickwork. Several roof lights sit above exposed timber joists giving rhythm and shadow to the new extension.

 

The garden extension is clad in natural finish timber harmonising the new addition with the mature garden setting. A standing seam zinc roof and hidden gutter create a contemporary aesthetic.
